Cola Raises Women's Osteoporosis Risk
(HealthDay News. 10/6/06)

Katherine Tucker of the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, and colleagues, report a link between cola beverages and lower bone mineral density in women. The scientists analyzed  information on mineral density of the hipbones and spine gathered from more than 2,500 participants in the Framingham Osteoporosis Study. The scientists found that women who drank cola daily were significantly more likely to have lower bone mineral density than those consuming the beverage just once a week. These findings suggest that women concerned about osteoporosis should limit their cola consumption.
