Urging Cancer Patients to Avoid Antioxidants is Questionable Advice
by Betty Hoeffner, 10/12/2005 (EzineArticles.com)

Dr. Keith Block of the University of Illinois College of Medicine disputes a recent report in the American Cancer Society’s medical journal, which warns that antioxidants may threaten a cancer patient’s chance of survival. Dr Block says that the opposite is true: these substances fight malignancies. Citing research demonstrating that glutathione, as well as melatonin, improve outcomes for advanced cancer patients, he notes that the author of the article, Gabriella M. D’Andrea, MD, of Sloan Kettering Cancer Center overlooked extensive research showing that using certain antioxidants judiciously can boost cure rates.
