Cherry Juice May Ease Muscle Pain
(HealthDay News, 6/20/06)
Researchers at the University of Vermont in Burlington had
14 subjects exercise by flexing and tensing the muscles in one
arm 20 times daily for a week. The volunteers drank either
cherry juice (containing juice from over 50 cherries), a
cherry/apple beverage or a non-cherry drink. The investigators
found that participants drinking cherry juice experienced less
pain and gained more muscle strength than the other subjects.
Scientists speculate that the antioxidants in the juice may
reduce exercise-induced aches.
