Antioxidant Combo May Prevent Some
Migraines
(Reuters Health, 6/1/06)
Dr. Sirichai Chayasirisobhon of Kaiser Permanente Medical
Center in Anaheim, CA, and team, had 12 migraine patients take
10 capsules daily of 120 mg pine bark extract, 60 mg vitamin C
and 30 IU of vitamin E. Before and after the three-month study
period, the investigators gave each subject a “MIDAS” test,
which measures the impact of migraines, and the researchers
found that the participants experienced less severity and
fewer days of headache during the treatment. The scientists
speculate that the antioxidants in the supplement may prevent
headaches by neutralizing free radicals.
