High-Fat, Copper-Rich Diet Boosts Risk of Cognitive Decline in Elderly
(HealthDay News, 8/15/06)

Researchers at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago questioned 3,718 older adults about their dietary habits and tested their cognitive abilities at the outset of the study and again three and six years later. The investigators found that consuming high quantities of saturated fat and trans fats, along with copper, may be linked to an accelerated loss of the capacity to think, learn and remember.
