Berman and his team at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles reviewed the medical records of 17,991 patients who had taken stress tests, the researchers found that patients reporting shortness of breath were significantly more likely to die within the next few years. The scientists concluded that having trouble breathing is just as important an indicator of cardiac problems as the most relied on symptom, chest pain.
