Vitamin E May
Protect Against Parkinson's -Study
(Reuters Health, 5/19/05)
Dr. Mayhar Etminan of the Royal Victoria Hospital in
Quebec, Canada, and team analyzed data from eight studies on
the effect of vitamins C, E and beta carotene on the risk of
developing Parkinson’s disease, a progressive condition in
which the brain cells that produce dopamine malfunction. The
researchers concluded that a diet rich in vitamin E may
protect against Parkinson’s. Scientists speculate that vitamin
E’s antioxidant properties may block cell damage.
