Reactive Blood Pressure Linked to Impaired Thinking
(NY, Reuters Health, 6/9/05)

Drs. Shari R. Waldstein and Leslie I. Katzel of the University of Maryland School of Medicine assigned 94 healthy adults three different three-minute tasks designed to evoke stressful reactions. During the tasks, the investigators assessed the subjects’ blood pressure reactivity and found that subjects with greater reactivity scored lower in terms of memory and mental performance. The results suggest that hypertension may impair mental performance.
