Range of Jobs Tied to Degenerative Brain Disease
(Reuters Health, 8/18/05)

Robert M. Park of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Cincinnati, Ohio, and team, examined the death records of more than 2.6 million Americans and found links between certain occupations and the risk of death from neuro-degenerative diseases, like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and early onset dementia. Possible explanations for the occurrence of such conditions in farmers, welders and hairdresser may be their routine exposure to chemicals, but the cause for elevated risks among teachers, clergy and bank tellers, are harder to pinpoint.
