Most Older Adults Use Alternative Medicine
(NY, Reuters Health, 4/11/05)

Dr. Gong-Soog Hong of Ohio State University in Columbus, and team, asked 848 older adults whether they had tried chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, breath exercises, herbs and/or meditation. More than 70% had used one or more of these therapies, with 43 % having experienced the most popular therapy among the six, which was chiropractic care. These findings suggest that older people are seeking more options to preserve their health, possibly because some remedies offered by conventional medicine may not work, have unacceptable side effects or are too costly..
