High Milk Intake May Boost Ovarian Cancer Risk
 (HealthDayNews, 8/5/05)

Susanna Larsson of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, and team, analyzed the data from 21 studies and concluded that drinking excessive amounts of whole milk may slightly increase the risk of ovarian cancer. The researchers are not certain of the reason for this association, but they note that the lactose in milk produces galactose, which is suspected of causing direct toxicity to the ovarian germ cells.
