Fend Off
Dementia with Sex, Crosswords and a Run
(Canberra, Reuters Health, 4/7/05)
Perry Bartlett of the University of Queensland's Brain
Institute, Australia, reports that exercise—both physical and
mental—keeps the brain in shape and stimulates the production
of new brain cells; thereby, averting such degenerative
diseases as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Bartlett also notes
that prolactin, a chemical that rises during sex, seems to
promote new brain cells. |
