Dietary Fiber
Fights High Blood Pressure
(HealthDayNews, 3/4/05)
Seamus Whelton of Tulane University, and colleagues,
reviewed data from 25 clinical trials, which involved almost
1,500 subjects, and found an association between eating about
7 to 19 grams of fiber daily and lowered systolic and
diastolic blood pressure. This meta-analysis suggests that
eating adequate amounts of fiber may help normalize blood
pressure levels.
