Calcium and
Vitamin D may help PMS: Study
(Boston, AP, 6/13/05)
Dr. Elizabeth Bertone-Johnson of the University of
Massachusetts, and associates, compared the diets and
supplementation over 10 years of 1,057 women diagnosed with
premenstrual syndrome (PMS) to 1,968 women who did not have
PMS. The subjects had answered diet and other health questions
as participants in the large Nurses Health Study. The
investigators found a link between eating a diet rich in
calcium and vitamin D and a reduced risk of developing PMS
symptoms, such as anxiety, irritability, and tearfulness. |
