Brain Cells Show Gender Difference
(HealthDayNews, 3/4/05)

Using animal studies, Dr. Robert Clark, of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and team, have found that glutathione, which protects oxygen-deprived brain cells from death, remains constant in females who suffer brain injury; whereas, glutathione drops in males with similar injuries. These findings suggest that there may be a need for gender-specific therapies for brain injury.
