Amino Acid May Harm Memory and More

Researchers in the Netherlands, using neuropsychological exams to measure the cognitive function of 345 people with coronary artery disease, found that high levels of the amino acid homocysteine were associated with poorer performance on “tests of memory, attention, visual perception, and construction.” The scientists speculate that homocysteine may have a neurotoxic effect on the brain.
