Zinc Supplements May Help ADHD Treatment
 (NY, Reuters Health, 4/21/04)

Dr. Shahin Akhondzadeh of Tehran University School of Medical Sciences in Iran, and team, randomly assigned 44 children with ADHD to receive the active ingredient in Ritalin plus either zinc sulfate or a placebo. After six weeks, the researchers found that both groups had improved significantly, but the improvement of the children taking the zinc was greater than the placebo group. The scientists attribute these results to zinc’s role in the production and modulation of melatonin
