Zinc
Supplements May Help ADHD Treatment
(NY, Reuters Health, 4/21/04)
Dr. Shahin Akhondzadeh of Tehran University School of
Medical Sciences in Iran, and team, randomly assigned 44
children with ADHD to receive the active ingredient in Ritalin
plus either zinc sulfate or a placebo. After six weeks, the
researchers found that both groups had improved significantly,
but the improvement of the children taking the zinc was
greater than the placebo group. The scientists attribute these
results to zinc’s role in the production and modulation of
melatonin
