Wiping Out Stomach Bug Improves Cholesterol Level
(NY, Reuters Health, 2/18/04)

Dr. Hubert Scharnagl, of the University of Graz in Austria, and team, monitored the cholesterol levels of 87 subjects who were being treated for intestinal ulcers with drugs that fight Helicobacter pylori. The researchers found that the eradication of the H pylori bacteria was associated with significant increases in patients' blood levels of HDL, the “good” cholesterol.
