Symptoms of Parasites
(Gut Solutions by Brenda Watson, Leonard Smith, Susan Stockton, Stephen Holt, 2004)

Parasites and their waste products not only cause diarrhea and mal-absorption, but can affect tissues throughout the body and cause such symptoms as:

  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Irritability/ nervousness
  • Persistent skin problems
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Muscle cramps
  • Postnasal drip
  • Prostatitis
  • Rectal itching
  • Pain in umbilicus
  • Loss of or ravenous appetite
  • Digestive complaints (gas, bloating, cramps)
  • Granulomas (tumor-like masses that encase destroyed larva or parasites)
  • Allergies
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Overall fatigue
  • Anemia
  • Joint pain
  • Teeth grinding
  • Sugar Craving
  • Brain fog
  • Bed wetting

Parasites may hide in the lining of the intestine or other organs and, therefore, be hard to diagnose, but once they are detected, you can take steps to eradicate them:

  • Take appropriate herbal supplements..
  • Avoid foods that may be contaminated, like unwashed produce, unfiltered water, sushi etc.
  • Consult your physician about minimizing antibiotics, steroids, immune suppressing drugs & oral contraceptives.
  • Avoid walking barefoot, especially in grassy areas used by animals.
  • Avoid letting pets sleep with you or lick your face. Wear gloves to clean pet areas, esp. a litter box.
  • Wear protective clothing to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.
  • Change your diet and lifestyle to exclude foods and substances known to contribute to bacterial imbalance, including refined and processed foods, sugar of any kind, alcohol, refined carbohydrates, antibiotics and steroid drugs.
  • Increase fiber intake. balancing soluble and insoluble using flax.
  • Drink plenty of water, at least half your body weight in ounces per day (for a 120 pound person, that means sixty ounces or seven tall glasses).
