Stress Stresses the Heart

Simon Bacon and colleagues at Duke University Medical Center continuously monitored the electrical activity of the hearts of 135 coronary artery disease patients over a two-day period. The investigators found that the hearts of people who experienced more negative emotions, like anger and sadness, during their daily life were less able to respond to outside stress. The findings suggest that stress reduction may play a role in maintaining cardiac health
