Soy May
Protect Against Endometrial Cancer
(NY, Reuters Health, 5/28/04)
Dr. Xiao Ou Shu of Vanderbilt University in Nashville,
Tennessee, and associates in China, matched the soy intake of
846 healthy women against 832 women with endometrial cancer
selected at random from the Shanghai Cancer Registry. The
scientists found that women who ate more than 6 grams of soy
protein daily had significantly lower odds of developing
cancer of the lining of the uterus when compared with those
who consumed less soy. This anti-cancer effect appeared to be
especially strong for overweight women. |
