Premenstrual
Syndrome Predicts Menopausal Symptoms
(NY, Reuters Health,
4/30/04)
Dr. E. W. Freeman, from the University of Pennsylvania in
Philadelphia, and team, surveyed 426 women about premenstrual
syndrome (PMS) and then tracked them for 5 years. Of the 320
participants who completed the trial, 176 became menopausal.
The researchers found that subjects who had PMS were more
likely than their non-PMS peers to develop adverse symptoms
during menopause, including hot flushes, depressed mood, poor
sleep and decreased libido
