Melatonin Improves Asthma-Disturbed Sleep
(NY, Reuters Health, 11/1/04)

Dr. Pedro F. C. de Bruin of Universidade Federal do Ceara, Fortaleza, Brazil, and team, studied 22 women with mild or moderate asthma and compared the effects of taking 3 mg of melatonin 2 hours before bedtime for four weeks with taking a placebo . The researchers found that the melatonin group took less time to fall asleep, slept longer and had better sleep quality. The scientists said that, contrary to what others had claimed, the melatonin did not exacerbate asthma symptoms.
