Fallout from Sept. 11 Attacks Continues
(HealthDayNews, 9/9/04)
Ongoing research, funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention and conducted by Dr. Stephen Levin and
colleagues at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC, has found
high rates of respiratory disease, musculoskeletal problems
and mental health issues among workers who participated in
rescue and recovery efforts following the terrorist attacks of
Sept. 11, 2001. The researchers conclude that this group is
likely to continue to develop health problems and, therefore,
should be monitored on a long-term basis.
