HealthSource touts the benefits of good carbohydrates, like
fiber. The article suggests increasing dietary fiber by:
- Eating high-fiber cereal or adding unprocessed wheat
bran to cereal.
- Adding bran when making bread, cake, muffins, meatloaf &
cookies.
- Eating whole-grain bread instead of white & substituting
whole-wheat for white flour in baking.
- Using whole grains & adding beans to canned soups or
salads.
- Choosing high-fiber snacks, like fruits, raw vegetables,
low-fat popcorn & whole-grain crackers.
- Adding barley to soups and stews.
- Eating lots of fruits and vegetables.
