DHEA Helpful for Older Women Too

Dr. Alessandro D. Genazzani of the University of Modena, Italy, and team, gave 20 menopausal women 25 mg of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) daily for one year. The subjects experienced decreases in menopausal symptoms, like hot flashes, and increases in estrogen, testosterone, dihydrotestosterone and progesterone levels without side effects. These findings suggest that DHEA may be a safe, effective alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).
