American Pesticide Levels Are High: Study
(San Francisco, AP, 5/11/04)

Kristin Schafer, and colleagues at the Pesticide Action Network (PAN), analyzed data gathered from 2,648 people tested for levels of 34 pesticides by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The PAN study, entitled "Chemical Trespass: Pesticides in Our Bodies and Corporate Accountability," concluded that that many U.S. residents carry unsafe pesticide loads within their bodies. PAN scientists maintain that, even at low levels, this chemical mix is a threat to health and they recommend that the government ban hazardous pesticides, hold manufacturers accountable for contamination and require corporations to show that a pesticide is not harmful to humans.
