Vitamins May
Slow Down Alzheimers
(HealthScoutNews, 3/25/03)
Scientists at Georgetown University's Memory Disorders
Program have shown that high doses of certain vitamins may
reduce homocysteine in Alzheimer patients. The investigators
believe this finding is important because previous research
has linked elevated homocysteine levels with Alzheimer's
Disease. The Georgetown researchers are now heading an
18-month trial that will test the effect of folic acid, B12
and B6 on the progression of Alzheimer's in 400 subjects who
are mildly to moderately affected by the disease. |
