Study Shows Vitamins Save Health Care Costs
 (Washington, Reuters Health, 10/2/03)

The Lewin Group, on behalf of Wyeth Consumer Health, conducted a study aimed at finding a way to cut medical costs. The researchers analyzed existing studies and examined the effects of vitamin supplementation on immune-functioning and on 5 medical conditions: coronary artery disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, prostate cancer and colorectal cancer. The investigators concluded that taking a daily multivitamin would significantly improve the health of the elderly and thereby effectively cut costs for hospitals, nursing care and drugs.
