(NY, Reuters Health, 4/25/03)

Based on the blood tests of 159 women with breast cancer and 250 healthy women, Dr. Charles Charlier of Sart Tilman Hospital in Liege, Belgium and team report that the bloodstreams of women with breast cancer are more likely to contain residues of pesticides, like DDT and HCB. Further evidence of the association between breast cancer and pesticides, have come from laboratory studies that have demonstrated that DDT, HCB and other environmental pollutants can mimic estrogen and stimulate the growth of malignant breast cancer cells in test tube.
