Statin Drugs Fail Half UK Heart Patients

Adrian Brady and colleagues at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary report that over half of the 14,000 cardiac patients evaluated in a British study failed to lower their cholesterol to the recommended level after taking statin drugs. Doctors were unaware of this problem and, according to a survey of 220 general practitioners, they mistakenly estimated that 80% of their patients were reaching their cholesterol goals.
