Statin Drugs
Fail Half UK Heart Patients
(London, Reuters Health,10/6/03)
Adrian Brady and colleagues at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary
report that over half of the 14,000 cardiac patients evaluated
in a British study failed to lower their cholesterol to the
recommended level after taking statin drugs. Doctors were
unaware of this problem and, according to a survey of 220
general practitioners, they mistakenly estimated that 80% of
their patients were reaching their cholesterol goals. |
