Soy-Tea Combo
May Thwart Prostate Cancer
(HealthScoutNews, 2/5/03)
Harvard University researcher, Jin-Rong Zhou, and
colleagues, studied 16 mice that had been genetically
engineered to develop tumors in the prostate area. The
scientists provided similar diets for all of the mice, but fed
daily doses of soy and green tea to some. The researchers
report that the tea and soy individually inhibited tumor
development and growth, but were especially potent when taken
in combination. The tea-soy combination not only slowed tumor
growth by blocking angiogenesis (the process of developing new
blood vessels to feed the tumors), but inhibited the spread of
cancer cells to the lymph nodes. |
