Soy Extract Helps Some Prostate Cancer Patients

Prostatic-specific antigen (PSA) is a marker for prostate cancer. When researchers from the University of California, Davis Cancer Center, gave 62 prostate cancer patients a daily dose of 5 grams of genistein for 6 months, the scientists found that many of the men with untreated cancers experienced a significant decrease in their PSA levels; whereas, those who had already undergone surgical, radiation or hormone treatments did not respond and continued to show increases in their PSA levels.
