Supplementation on Atherosclerotic Progression
(PubMed, Circulation, 2/25/03)
During the 6-year Antioxidant Supplementation in
Atherosclerosis Prevention (ASAP) Study at the Research
Institute of Public Health, University of Kuopio, Finland,
researchers used ultrasound to monitor the carotid arteries of
520 older adults. The scientists reported that the progression
of atherosclerosis was slowed down in subjects with high
cholesterol who were taking 136 IU of Vitamin E and 250 mg of
slow-release C twice daily. |
