Multiple
Sclerosis - Smoked Sausage Link Examined
(Berlin, Reuters Health, 6/26/02)
According to Marcel Geilenkeuser from the Darmstadt Clinic
in Germany and colleagues, children who eat certain smoked
sausages are more likely to develop the auto-immune disease,
multiple sclerosis (MS), as adults. The researchers speculate
that the nitrates in the meat combining with substances in the
smoke produce this harmful, long-term effect. |
