Most People
Don't Recognize Early Signs of Stroke
(New York, Reuters Health, 5/3/02)
After interviewing stroke survivors, caregivers and people
with no experience with stroke, Sung Sug Yoon, a nurse at the
University of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia,
concluded that many victims delay treatment because symptoms
vary so widely that most people do not recognize early signs
of stroke. She suggests directing education efforts to those
who are high risk, like the elderly. |
