Inflammatory
Protein Tied to Sudden Cardiac Death
(New York, Reuters Health, 4/15/02)
A study by Dr. Renu Virmani of the US Armed Forces
Institute of Pathology in Washington and her team, links
C-Reactive Protein (CRP), to sudden cardiac death. The
researchers speculate that chronic inflammation which results
in elevated CRP may also precipitate the build-up of plaque in
arteries creating an increased risk of heart disease. |
