Ibuprofen Could Be Bad for Heart Patients
 (London, Yahoo News, 2/14/03)

Researchers at the Medicines Monitoring Unit of Britain's Medical Research Council examined data for 7,107 cardiac patients for whom aspirin had been prescribed. They sorted the medical records into 4 groups based on the patients' prescriptions. The first group consisted of subjects who took aspirin alone; the second, aspirin plus ibuprofen; the third aspirin plus the NSAID, diclofenac; and the final, aspirin with any other NSAID, such as Tylenol. The investigators concluded that taking ibuprofen with aspirin significantly increased the risk of death, apparently by blocking aspirin's blood-thinning property.
