Heart Risk
May Rebound After Stopping Statins
(NY, Reuters Health, 3/4/02)
In March 26th's issue of "Circulation: Journal of the
American Heart Association," Dr Christian W. Hamm of the
Kerckhoff's Heart Center in Bad Nauheim, Germany reports that
he and his colleagues found that patients who stopped taking
cholesterol-lowering statin drugs were more likely to die of a
heart attack than patients who continued taking the drugs.
Those who stopped also had a greater risk of having a heart
attack or dying than patients who never took statins |
