Ginseng Use
During Pregnancy May Hurt Baby
(NY, Reuters Health, 9/25/03)
Dr. Louis Chan, from the Chinese University of Hong Kong,
and team, found that exposing developing rat embryos to
ginsenoside, a component of ginseng, impaired growth and
development, especially of their limbs. The findings suggest
that perhaps women should avoid ginseng in the early stages of
pregnancy, at least until more is known about possible side
effects of this herb. |
