(HealthScout News, 5/8/03)

Duke University scientists in collaboration with researchers from the Koo Foundation Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center in China analyzed the cells of 89 breast cancer patient who had undergone tumor removal and lymph node biopsies. At the time of surgery, the investigators used sophisticated statistical techniques to create specific "DNA signatures" for each individual breast cancer patient based on their cell patterns. The researchers are now refining these profiling technique to attain even greater accuracy.
