Eating Fish May Cut Alzheimer's Risk
(Chicago, Yahoo/ Associate Press, 7/21/03)

Dr. Martha Clare Morris of Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center, Chicago, and team, studied 815 Chicago residents who were over age 65. Four years later, a follow-up showed that 131 of the subjects had developed Alzheimer's. Based on the data collected from the study participants, the researchers determined that those who ate fish once a week had a 60% lower risk of developing Alzheimer's Disease compared to those who rarely or never ate fish.. The findings of this study suggest that including fish in the diet may protect against Alzheimer's, possibly because of the omega 3-fatty acids in certain seafood.
