Eat to Better
the Odds After Ovarian Cancer
(Healthday, 7/31/03)
Christina Nagle of the University of Queensland Medical
School in Australia, and team, queried 609 women about their
consumption of 119 foods during the year preceding their being
diagnosed with invasive epithelial ovarian cancer. The
researchers found that women who had eaten the greatest
amounts of plant-based foods, especially cruciferous
vegetables, survived the longest; while those who consumed the
most dairy products died sooner. The scientists speculate that
eating a diet high in vegetables may improve the odds of
surviving ovarian cancer. |
