Dysbiosis
(Gut Journal, 2003)
"Orthobiosis" refers to the health-supporting balance of
life forms in the intestinal tract. "Putrefactive dysbiosis"
occurs when this balance is disrupted. Although some
fermentation in the large intestine can be healthful,
fermentation in the small intestine can result in dysbiosis
and damage to the gut wall, promoting the absorption of toxic
byproducts and impairing nutrient absorption. Dysbiosis not
only produces intestinal symptoms (like bloating, cramps,
diarrhea or constipation), but can affect organs and systems
throughout the body, creating such diverse symptoms as
headache, joint pain, immune dysfunction and behavior
disorders. |
