When Dr. Emile Ferrari of University Hospital Pasteur in Nice, France, and colleagues, analyzed data from 1,236 heart patients, the researchers found that 51 of the subjects had experienced severe cardiac events, including heart attacks, within a week of discontinuing regular aspirin use. These findings suggest that abrupt aspirin withdrawal can have devastating consequences and should be avoided.
