Creatine Boosts Brain Power
 (Healthday, 8/13/03)

Australian researchers, led by Dr. Caroline Rae, studied 45 young adult vegetarians, giving a daily dose of 5 grams of creatine to half the subjects for six weeks and a placebo to the rest. For six additional weeks, neither group took creatine; then for a final six weeks the groups switched. The investigators performed memory and intelligence tests at the start and again at the six, twelve and eighteen week points as the study progressed. The findings showed that the subjects scored at a higher level when they were taking the creatine, suggesting that creatine, which is found in meat, can boost both memory and intelligence.
