The combined
effects of garlic oil and fish oil on the hepatic antioxidant
and drug-metabolizing enzymes of rats
(Britiish Journal of Nutrition, Vol. 89,
Issue 2, Feb.2003)
Haw-Wen Chen and fellow researchers at Chung Shan Medical
University in Taiwan fed rats either a low maize oil (MO)
diet, a high maize oil diet or a high fish oil (FO) diet,
along with varied doses of garlic oil (GO). The researchers
concluded that a regimen combining garlic oil and fish oil
enhances the liver’s antioxidant and drug-metabolizing
capability and that the two oils have a synergistic effect.
