Black Tea May
Lower Heart Disease Risks
(NY, Reuters Health, 1/1/03)
In a study involving 3400 adults from Saudi Arabia, Dr Imin
A. Hakim of the University of Arizona in Tucson and
colleagues, asked the participants about their diet, health
and lifestyle habits. Based on the responses to these
questions, the researchers determined that those who did not
drink tea were twice as likely to have heart disease as those
who drank at least 6 cups per day. Other studies have
indicated that the flavonoids in tea may lower blood pressure;
decrease LDL cholesterol levels; and reduce stroke and
clotting risks |
