Black Tea May Lower Heart Disease Risks
(NY, Reuters Health, 1/1/03)

In a study involving 3400 adults from Saudi Arabia, Dr Imin A. Hakim of the University of Arizona in Tucson and colleagues, asked the participants about their diet, health and lifestyle habits. Based on the responses to these questions, the researchers determined that those who did not drink tea were twice as likely to have heart disease as those who drank at least 6 cups per day. Other studies have indicated that the flavonoids in tea may lower blood pressure; decrease LDL cholesterol levels; and reduce stroke and clotting risks
