Zinc, Folic Acid Shown to Boost Sperm Count
(NY, Reuters Health, 3/14/02)

Researchers led by Dr. Wai Yee Wong of the University Medical Centre Nijmegen in the Netherlands compared men with fertility problems to fertile men. They gave the men one of 4 regimens: either 1) daily doses of zinc, 2) daily doses of folic acid, 3) both folic acid and zinc or 4) a placebo. The number of normal sperm increased by 74% in the semen of subfertile men who took both supplements, confirming that these nutrients play a key role in producing normal sperm.
