Veggies, Nuts
and Grains Can Beat Heart Disease
(HealthScoutNews, 12/2/02)
When Canadian scientists at the University of Toronto and
St. Michael's Hospital measured the cholesterol levels of 13
people that had been on a "combination diet" for one month,
the researchers found that the participants' cholesterol
levels had dropped by 29%. These findings suggest that a diet
that combines vegetables, nuts, soy, oats and barley can lower
cholesterol as effectively as drug treatments. |
