When Canadian scientists at the University of Toronto and St. Michael's Hospital measured the cholesterol levels of 13 people that had been on a "combination diet" for one month, the researchers found that the participants' cholesterol levels had dropped by 29%. These findings suggest that a diet that combines vegetables, nuts, soy, oats and barley can lower cholesterol as effectively as drug treatments.
